About Us
Since 1975, the Vietnamese Community in Western Australia has been rapidly growing.
It is now one of the largest CALD communities in the state.
Our History
The Vietnamese were the first Asian refugee group that were granted permanent residency to settle in Australia from 1975. In recent times, there have been many more Vietnamese migrating to Australia through family reunion, business or professional visas. The Australian people at all levels have shown great kindness and generosity towards us as destitute refugees. We are very grateful to the people of Australia to have been given an opportunity to rebuild our lives in a free and democratic country.
Determined to rebuild our lives, we worked hard and our children studied hard. As a result the Vietnamese community has successfully settled in Australia and has made significant contributions to Australia in all walks of life including academia, technology, business, culture and the art. Having
rebuilt our lives in Australia, we are proud to call Australia home and we are proud to be Aussies.
Our Vision
Although the Vietnamese community has settled in WA for nearly 50 years, we do not have a place where we can meet to celebrate and preserve our culture and traditions.
In recognition of our needs, the Government of WA has kindly allocated the land at 1 Curtis Way Girrawheen for the Vietnamese community to build a small Vietnamese Cultural Centre.
